Welcome to our Henrico County website.  Henrico (pronounced hen-RYE-co) is the county north of Richmond, and it's where the Trekkers live. Use the animation above to explore our site or the navigation menu at the top. (Animation created with Wick).

The Virginia Trekkers are from Henrico County, just north of the capital city, Richmond.  There is a lot of history in our county, so we created this special website for its 400th anniversary in 2011. We’ll explore historical places, Civil War battefields, old schools, and more! Let’s go Trekkin’! (Trouble viewing the YouTube video? Try Vimeo or direct link).

This is a 3D model of Henrico County. Its features have been exaggerated a bit to make them more obvious. Click and drag to move it around. Scroll to zoom in and explore the geography. Which side of the county has a lower elevation? So which way do the bordering rivers flow? The Chickahominy River forms part of the northern border and the James River forms part of the southern border. What do you notice about where the airport is located? (This 3-D map was created with 3-D Mapper).

Here is a Google map showing all the sites we’d like to make videos about. We haven’t finished them all yet, but stay tuned! Click on a marker to find out more information. Zoom in with the + on the bottom left. Click the icon in the upper left to turn on/off different types of markers.
